Role Description The Logistics Officer – Air & Ocean Freight is a contract, on-site role based in Kathmandu. This role is responsible for planning and coordinating international air and sea freight shipments from warehouse to global customers, ensuring on-time dispatch, accurate documentation, and compliance with customs and carrier regulations. Day-to-day tasks include booking freight with airlines and shipping lines, preparing export documents (invoices, packing lists, COO, BL/AWB, insurance), and liaising with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal production and warehouse teams. The Logistics Officer monitors shipment status, resolves delays or exceptions, optimizes container and cargo loads, and maintains up-to-date shipment records and cost data. The role also supports continuous improvement in logistics processes, including negotiating rates, improving lead-time reliability, and aligning shipment schedules with production and inventory plans.

Qualifications

  • Strong logistics and freight coordination skills, including Logistics Management and Supply Chain Management, with experience in international air and ocean freight operations.
  • Practical knowledge of Inventory Control and Warehouse Operations to align stock readiness, packing, and dispatch with shipment schedules.
  • Administration skills for accurate documentation, record-keeping, and coordination with internal teams, freight forwarders, and customers.
  • Familiarity with export procedures, customs documentation, Incoterms, and basic trade compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and ability to work with logistics or ERP systems for tracking and reporting.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English; additional regional languages are an advantage.
  • Relevant diploma or bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Previous experience in export logistics, freight forwarding, or manufacturing/export-oriented companies is preferred.
