Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Credit Analyst to join our mortgage brokerage team. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating the creditworthiness of clients, analysing financial data, and providing recommendations for loan approvals. We are specifically looking for a strong and experienced Credit Analyst who can confidently handle residential full doc files across all levels of complexity. Experience with low doc and alt doc files will be highly regarded and considered an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Credit Evaluation: Review and assess client financial documents, including credit reports, income statements, and other relevant data to determine creditworthiness.
- Loan Approval Recommendations: Provide clear and well supported recommendations regarding loan approvals, rejections, or adjustments.
- Residential and Full Doc File Management: Confidently handle residential and full doc loan files across all levels of complexity, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and quality in credit assessment.
- Low Doc and Alt Doc Assessment: Experience in reviewing low doc and alt doc files will be considered an added advantage.
- Collaboration with Team Members: Work closely with loan officers and other team members to ensure accurate and timely loan processing.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all credit assessments adhere to industry regulations and responsible lending practices.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and suggest mitigation strategies when necessary to ensure sound lending decisions.
- Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to gather additional information, clarify discrepancies, and provide updates on the loan process.
- Documentation Management: Maintain detailed and accurate records of all credit evaluations and decisions in compliance with company procedures.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and propose improvements to the credit analysis process and lending policies.
Qualifications and Skills
- 1 to 3 years of experience in a Credit Analyst or Mortgage Analyst role.
- Ability to handle residential and full doc files across any level of complexity.
- Strong knowledge of financial statements, credit reports, and loan documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage residential full doc files of varying and high complexity.
- Experience with low doc and alt doc files will be viewed favourably.
- Familiarity with responsible lending practices and industry regulations.
- Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook, as well as mortgage software systems.
- Low doc and alt doc file experience will be highly regarded as an added plus.
