Job Description
In this hourly, remote contractor role, you will work as a Compliance & Regulatory Subject Matter Expert (SME) to review AI-generated compliance, regulatory, and risk-related outputs and/or create expert compliance content, evaluating reasoning quality and step-by-step decision-making while providing precise written feedback. You will assess solutions for accuracy, clarity, completeness, and adherence to the prompt; identify errors in regulatory interpretation, policy/control design, compliance monitoring logic, reporting/disclosure requirements, and risk-based reasoning; fact-check compliance claims and terminology; write high-quality explanations and model outputs that demonstrate correct approaches; and rate and compare multiple responses based on correctness and reasoning quality. This role is with SME Careers, a fast-growing AI Data Services company and subsidiary of SuperAnnotate, delivering training data for many of the world’s largest AI companies and foundation-model labs.Important
There is no immediate project for this role; however, if qualified, you will be among the first experts we reach out to when relevant opportunities arise. This will also provide you with access to future projects available through our expert network.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop AI Training Content: Create detailed prompts and gold-standard compliance outputs (policies, control descriptions, monitoring plans, risk assessments, regulatory summaries).
- Optimize AI Performance: Evaluate and rank AI responses to improve correctness, defensibility, clarity, and practical usefulness.
- Ensure Model Integrity: Test AI outputs for inaccuracies, unsafe/noncompliant guidance, misleading certainty, and bias; validate reliability across scenarios.
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Business, Law, Finance, Risk/Compliance, Public Policy, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- 5+ years of professional experience in compliance and/or regulatory roles (financial services, healthcare, tech/privacy, insurance, energy, or other regulated industries).
- Strong command of compliance fundamentals: risk-based compliance programs, control design, monitoring/testing, issue management, remediation tracking, and documentation standards.
- Experience interpreting regulations and translating them into policies, procedures, training, and operational controls.
- Familiarity with common frameworks and concepts (as applicable): GRC tooling, ISO-style controls, SOC 2 awareness, SOX awareness, AML/KYC basics, privacy concepts (GDPR/CCPA), vendor/third-party risk.
- Excellent judgment in identifying missing assumptions, overconfident claims, and “false certainty” in regulatory guidance; minimum C1 English proficiency.
- Strong writing skills: ability to produce clear, defensible documentation (policies, SOPs, control narratives, risk assessments).
- Reliable, self-directed, and able to deliver consistent quality in an hourly, remote contractor workflow across time zones.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CRCMP, CAMS, CCEP, CIPP/E, CISA, CIA, CRISC) are a plus.
- Prior experience with AI data training/annotation, compliance QA, audit/regulatory exams support, or policy editorial work is strongly preferred.
