Job Responsibilities

The Mid System Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, performance, and scalability of systems and infrastructure. This role involves managing production environments, proactively identifying and resolving issues, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to support stable and efficient services.

As a Mid System Engineer, your responsibilities would typically be to:

• Own and resolve complex production incidents across applications, Kubernetes, cloud, networking, and virtualization layers
• Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident resolution and post-incident reviews
• Design and improve monitoring, alerting, and observability across infrastructure and services
• Automate operational tasks using Python, Go, Bash, and CI/CD pipelines
• Perform capacity planning across cloud, Kubernetes, and virtualized environments 
• Collaborate with development teams to design highly available, performant systems
• Apply SRE best practices such as SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets 

Required Skills & Experience 

• 3+ years of production experience with Linux systems
• Strong experience supporting large-scale web or SaaS platforms
• Proficiency in at least one programming language: Python, Go, Java, C/C++, or Ruby 
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and traffic flows
• Experience with KVM-based virtualization and Linux hypervisors
• Working knowledge of OpenStack private cloud environments
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / CloudFormation)
• Experience operating systems in AWS (preferred) or other public clouds
• Understanding of distributed systems and failure modes

Monitoring, Automation & Tooling

• Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, Datadog, or similar
• CI/CD: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, ArgoCD
• Configuration management and automation: Ansible, Bash, Python, Go
• Version control using Git 

Networking, Virtualization & Cloud

• Deep understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, TLS, proxies, and load balancing
• Experience debugging network performance issues and traffic routine
•  Experience with KVM, hypervisors, and VM performance tuning
• Familiarity with OpenStack components (Nova, Neutron, Cinder)
• Knowledge of oversubscription, NUMA, and capacity management strategies

Soft Skills & Mindset

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Ownership mindset and bias toward automation
• Comfortable working with globally distributed teams 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience 
• Master’s degree preferred but not mandatory
