Renewable World

Renewable World is a not-for-profit organization seeking to tackle poverty through renewable energy. We focus on enabling vulnerable and disadvantaged communities in developing countries to access affordable, reliable, renewable energy to provide opportunities for increased income and improved health and education facilities. 

We provide access to expert business development skills for energy consumers and for local owners of renewable energy systems. We also provide access to expert technical engineering advice to ensure systems are best fit to resources available and to community needs. We work with and through local partners to ensure our work is as locally relevant as possible. In this way, we seek to support long-term localized renewable energy access to provide a development pathway not dependent on carbon for “the poorest of the poor”. 

Renewable World (was founded in 2007 by individuals from the European renewable energy industry in the UK and Europe. Today, Renewable World has three hubs: the UK, Nairobi and Kathmandu. We continue to have a strong relationship with the renewable energy sector in the UK, in Europe and in our implementing countries. 

We aim to make our work count in the long-term through ‘kick-starting’ sustainable market systems for both energy access and small-scale income generating businesses. More than 1.4 billion people worldwide have no access to clean, safe energy sources. We seek to change this reality for as many of these people as possible.
