Job Description

The Dental Hygienist will provide professional preventive and oral hygiene care to patients under the direction of the dental team. The role involves performing dental hygiene procedures, educating patients on proper oral care, maintaining clinical standards, and supporting dentists in delivering quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform professional dental cleaning, scaling, polishing, and other preventive oral hygiene procedures as permitted by professional scope.
  • Assist dentists during examinations, procedures, and other clinical activities when required.
  • Assess patients' oral hygiene conditions and identify areas requiring attention.
  • Educate patients on proper brushing, flossing, oral hygiene practices, and preventive dental care.
  • Provide patients with appropriate oral hygiene instructions based on their individual needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of dental hygiene procedures and patient information.
  • Prepare and maintain dental instruments, equipment, and treatment areas.
  • Follow proper sterilization, infection-control, and clinical safety procedures.
  • Ensure all instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained.
  • Monitor patients during procedures and report any concerns or abnormalities to the dentist.
  • Support patient education and awareness programs related to oral and dental health.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic clinical environment.
  • Follow hospital protocols, professional standards, and ethical guidelines.
  • Coordinate effectively with dentists, dental assistants, counsellors, and other clinical staff.
Job Specification
  • Qualification: CDS (as specified by the hospital).
  • Relevant registration/licensing as required by the applicable professional and regulatory authorities.
  • Previous experience as a Dental Hygienist will be preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of dental hygiene procedures and infection-control protocols.
  • Good understanding of oral health and preventive dental care.
  • Strong communication and patient-handling skills.
  • Pleasant, professional, and patient-friendly personality.
  • Good attention to detail and clinical hygiene standards.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a dental care team.
  • Candidates with experience in a dental hospital or clinic will be preferred.
