Originating from UCL, SGUL, KUMS,TU IoM the institute engages in academic, research, and community-oriented activities in biomedical sciences. It collaborates with local and regional health institutions to support evidence-based practice and public health initiatives. Role Description This is an on-site volunteer role for a Biomedical Scientist or Medical Doctor based in Nepal though we will provide supportive letters for visa or facilitating sposnorship or getting permission for short-term vacations. The volunteer will support clinical and public health initiatives through patient assessment, basic diagnostic activities, and health education in coordination with local healthcare providers. Day-to-day tasks may include collecting and interpreting data, contributing to screening and outreach programs, documenting findings, and assisting in the development of treatment or prevention protocols under appropriate supervision and in line with local regulations. The role may also involve supporting small-scale research or quality improvement projects, maintaining accurate records, and participating in multidisciplinary meetings. Volunteers are expected to adhere to ethical and professional standards, collaborate respectfully with diverse teams, and contribute to capacity building within the community.

Qualifications

• Relevant academic background in medicine or biomedical sciences (e.g., MBBS, MD, MSc, BMLT, CMLT, Health Assistants or equivalent), with valid qualifications recognized in the applicant’s home country.
• Foundational clinical skills, including patient history-taking, basic physical examination, and interpretation of routine diagnostic tests, appropriate to the volunteer’s training and scope of practice.
• Experience or strong interest in public health, community medicine, or global health, especially in resource-limited settings.
• Ability to follow ethical guidelines, maintain patient confidentiality, and work within local regulatory frameworks and supervision structures.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with community members, local health workers, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Adaptability, cultural sensitivity, and willingness to work in challenging environments with limited resources.
• Basic computer literacy for documentation and data management; prior research or quality improvement experience is an advantage.
• Commitment to a clearly defined volunteer period and readiness to comply with local travel, health, and safety requirements.
