About Migrasia

Migrasia is a think-and-do tank dedicated to eliminating the systemic exploitation of migrant workers globally, focusing on forced and bonded labor. With offices in Hong Kong and Philippines, the organization addresses vulnerabilities faced by over 35 million migrant workers across Asia through strategic, tech-enabled, and data-driven interventions. Migrasia aims to foster solutions to a broken migration system and serves as an incubator for migration-related innovations in Asia and beyond.


Job Description:

Migrasia is hiring a Migration Specialist to be a core member of Migrasia’s investigation and case management projects. The MS will be a core member of the social media, client intake, and case support team and will be one of the first points of contact for migrant workers seeking assistance from Migrasia.


Key Duties:


Social Media Community Management

  • Manage and monitor Facebook Pages, Facebook Groups, Facebook Group Chats
  • Respond to engagements (comments, private messages, shares etc.) on Facebook
  • Generate and post content to Facebook in written, video, or image format
  • Monitor relevant external Facebook Pages, Facebook Groups, and other select websites
  • Coordinate with other team members and stake holder
  • Attend online meetings and reporting any social media updates or observations
  • Translate content, documents, or other materials to and from English and Nepali


Client Case Management

  • Facilitate client intake and encode client information for case management
  • Assist clients in filing Complaints and cases with relevant law enforcement, international and government agencies
  • Other complaint mechanisms may arise and be incorporated into the MS’s case management responsibilities
  • Guide clients throughout the conciliation and hearing process at Labour Departments
  • Assist clients in filing complaints in Nepal (country of origin) and other jurisdictions (destination/transit locations).


Skills

  • Experience with Facebook Pages, Facebook Groups, and Facebook Groups Chats
  • Experience with Google Suite (Google Documents, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Etc)
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Nepali
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems or issues
  • Ability to use Canva or similar photo editing software


Good to have:

  • Lived experience as a migrant worker.


Training and Manuals Will be Provided for

  • Instructions on how to encode data into Migrasia’s database
  • Instructions on how to use Airtable and any other client management software utilized by Migrasia
  • The relevant laws of Nepal and major destination locations for Nepali migrants
  • Standard operating procedures of Migrasia
  • Additional training and video tutorials for topics such as: law, design, research, etc.


Working Hours:

  • Full-time roles would be expected to work an average of 8 hours per day, 5 days a week, though there will not necessarily be a specific daily work schedule
  • The MS may be asked to work certain shifts in accordance with client needs but will otherwise be free to choose their own hours and working arrangement as long as the tasks are being completed.
