Job Summary
The Taxation & Regulatory Affairs Manager will serve as the company's subject matter expert on taxation, regulatory affairs, and brewery compliance. The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable tax, excise, and regulatory requirements, managing relationships with government authorities, monitoring legislative changes, handling audits and regulatory matters, and mitigating tax and compliance risks while supporting business continuity.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all applicable direct and indirect tax laws, regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Manage excise duty compliance, brewery licensing, permits, and other regulatory obligations.
- Prepare, review, and oversee timely filing of tax returns, regulatory submissions, and statutory reports.
- Liaise with government agencies, tax authorities, customs, excise departments, and regulatory bodies.
- Lead and coordinate tax audits, regulatory inspections, assessments, and dispute resolution processes.
- Monitor changes in taxation, excise, and regulatory legislation and assess their business impact.
- Provide expert advice to management on tax planning, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Develop and implement internal compliance policies, procedures, and controls to ensure regulatory adherence.
- Support business operations on licensing, permits, product approvals, and other regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with finance, legal, supply chain, manufacturing, and external consultants on compliance-related matters.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records to support regulatory and audit requirements.
- Identify compliance risks and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with relevant government authorities and industry stakeholders.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Public Administration, Political Science, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Master's degree will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 5–10 years of experience in taxation, regulatory affairs, legal, compliance, or related functions.
- Experience in FMCG, manufacturing, brewery, or multinational organizations will be highly preferred.
- Proven experience managing tax audits, regulatory proceedings, government engagement, and compliance matters.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of Nepalese direct and indirect taxation laws and regulations.
- Sound understanding of excise laws, licensing requirements, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
- Excellent stakeholder management and government liaison skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and regulatory documentation management.
