Gyan Bigyan Shaikshik Co-operative Ltd. (Shikshak Masik)

Shikshak Monthly is the only one Nepali-language monthly magazine targeting public school teachers of Nepal to provide them with relevant information, teaching, and learning resources, and educate and motivate them to their profession. It was established in 2008 with a social enterprise approach and believes on “Education needs to be preserved as a public good and not be reduced to a profit-making business”. Shikshak has been published under the umbrella of Gyan Bigyan Shaikshik Sahakari Sanstha Limited (the Cooperative organization). It is not for profit making organization and ownership has been equally shared between its 65 shareholders Shikshak Monthly has been a platform for key stakeholders, policymakers/practitioners, academia as well as parents and members of school management committees to share their concerns. It uses a variety of contents to present useful news and information (e.g. news, commentary, tips, in-depth and investigative reporting, articles, and personal experiences of teachers). It also explores the most contemporary issues of education, linked the issues of Nepalese education with international knowledge and experiences, and organized the policy dialogue on different issues of education and other interlinked contemporary agenda of development sectors as well.
