Job Description
About Buneko
Buneko is a Nepal-based sustainable brand working at the intersection of art, craft, and clothes. We are interested in creating clothing that is thoughtful, functional, and made to last.
We work with local makers, existing materials, surplus garments, and different forms of textile and craft production. We believe design is not only about making something new, but also about understanding what already exists and finding better ways to use it.
About the Role
We are looking for a Fashion Designer who is curious about clothing, materials, and the process of making.
You will work closely with our design and production team, helping us develop new garments and improve existing ones. This role will give you hands-on experience in the journey from an idea to a finished garment.
What You Will Do
- Assist in developing new clothing designs and collections
- Research fashion, textiles, materials, crafts, and design references
- Create moodboards, sketches, and design concepts
- Assist with fabric and material selection
- Help develop patterns, samples, and prototypes
- Work with tailors and makers during the sampling and production process
- Assist with fittings and garment alterations
- Explore ways to use existing, surplus, and locally available materials
- Document design and sampling processes
- Help with product measurements, specifications, and technical details
- Assist in developing new ideas for garments, details, prints, and construction
- Participate in photoshoots, styling, and other creative projects when required
What We Are Looking For
- A student or recent graduate studying Fashion Design, Textile Design, Fine Arts, or a related field
- Strong interest in clothing and fashion
- Basic understanding of garment construction and textiles
- Ability to sketch and communicate design ideas
- Willingness to learn through hands-on work
- Good observation and attention to detail
- Curious about materials and how things are made
- Comfortable working with a small and growing team
- Good communication and willingness to work with tailors, makers, and other team members
You do not need to know everything. We are more interested in your curiosity, willingness to learn, and the way you think about clothing and design.
What You Will Learn
During the internship, you will get exposure to:
- Fashion design and product development
- Pattern and garment development
- Fabric and material sourcing
- Sampling and production
- Working with local tailors and makers
- Upcycling and working with surplus materials
