Role Description The Junior Compositor–Freelance is responsible for integrating 2D and 3D elements into live-action footage to create cohesive final shots. Day-to-day tasks include assembling and refining composites, matching lighting and color between elements, performing rotoscoping and keying, and preparing renders for review. The role involves close collaboration with senior compositors, CG artists, and supervisors, following shot notes and incorporating feedback efficiently. The Junior Compositor will manage shot versions, maintain organized project files, and ensure deliveries meet technical and aesthetic requirements. This is a full-time, remote freelance role that requires reliable availability during agreed production hours and consistent communication with the production team.
Qualifications
- compositing skills, including experience with layering, keying, rotoscoping, and integrating elements into live-action footage.
- Foundational knowledge of lighting and color theory to maintain consistency between CG elements and live-action plates.
- Understanding of computer graphics and animation workflows, including rendering pipelines and common VFX software tools.
- Familiarity with live-action production processes and the ability to interpret shot briefs, storyboards, and reference material.
- Proficiency with industry-standard compositing software (e.g., Nuke, After Effects) and basic image-editing tools.
- Strong attention to detail, time management skills, and ability to follow direction and incorporate feedback quickly.
- Effective remote collaboration skills, including clear communication, version control, and adherence to deadlines.
- Relevant education or training in visual effects, animation, computer graphics, or a related field; portfolio or demo reel showcasing compositing work is highly beneficial.
