Employment Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Executive Director

Work Station: Lalitpur, Nepal

Work Hours: 9:30 AM to 6 PM, Monday - Friday

Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Plantation Project Developer & Forest Technician who will be responsible to oversee and scale the overall project approach including implementation of agro-forestry on private land with/for local smallholder farmers, and restoration of degraded public land (community forests) to increase land resilience and reduce land degradation.


Key Responsibilities

1. Project Management Plantation:

  • Tree project implementation management (Agro-forestry and community forests)
  • Plantation design, registration and monitoring


2. New Project mapping and development:

  • Expand existing and develop new agro-forestry projects across Nepal – start partnerships
  • Locate new community forest’s/public land for restoration projects (large scale >25ha+/location)


3. Monitoring and reporting

  • Visits project sites for training and monitoring
  • Manage forest guards
  • Manage registration of projects in GI application (Geotagging)


4. Proposal Writing and Reporting

  • Assist in proposal writing and other fundraising activities for the organization.
  • Reporting on current organizational projects. 


Qualifications and Requirements

  • Master's degree in Forestry or related field. 
  • Minimum 5 - 8 years of experience of working in the forestry sector or related field in Nepal. 
  • Experience with managing large scale plantation projects (agro-forestry / CF)
  • Practical knowledge about vegetation species and forestry ecosystem in Nepal.
  • Willingness to travel for field visits to set up new projects and partnerships. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Nepali
  • Valid 2-wheeler driving license and comfortable travelling longer distance in motorbike. 
  • Experience working with communities, and well-connected in forestry sector. 
  • Strong proposal writing, project management, reporting and problem solving skills.
