Role Description The UK Senior Counsellor is a full-time, on-site role based in Kathmandu, responsible for guiding students who wish to pursue higher education in the United Kingdom. The role involves conducting one-on-one counselling sessions, assessing student profiles, and recommending suitable universities, courses, and pathways in line with academic background and career goals. The Senior Counsellor will support students with application preparation, documentation, and visa process guidance, while ensuring adherence to ethical and transparent practices. Day-to-day tasks include responding to student inquiries, maintaining accurate records, coordinating with international partners and institutions, and contributing to information sessions, seminars, and outreach activities. The role also includes mentoring junior counsellors, staying updated on UK education policies and admission requirements, and providing clear, evidence-based advice to students and families.
Qualifications
  • Strong counselling and advisory skills, with experience supporting students in educational or career decision-making, preferably focused on UK study-abroad pathways.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, including clear spoken and written English, active listening, and culturally sensitive interaction with students and families.
  • Solid knowledge of UK higher education systems, admission processes, visa requirements, scholarship opportunities, and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple student cases, maintain documentation, and meet application and visa deadlines.
  • Proficiency in basic office software and digital tools for documentation, communication, and online research; familiarity with CRM or student management systems is an advantage.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, counselling, social sciences, business, or a related field; advanced qualifications or certifications in counselling or international education are a plus.
  • Prior experience in an educational consultancy, international admissions office, or similar environment; experience with Nepali students seeking UK study opportunities is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team, uphold ethical and transparent practices, and demonstrate a genuine commitment to student success and wellbeing.
