Job Description

Product Manager — TaxMD™

Department: Product

Location: Jhamsikhel, Lalitpur

Employment Type: Full-Time

About TaxMD™

TaxMD™ is an AI-powered platform designed to make tax planning simpler and smarter for everyone, from individuals and real estate investors to business owners and high-income earners. With over hundreds of CPA-approved strategies, TaxMD™ creates custom tax-planning reports based on each user's unique financial situation. We handle the complex analysis for you, stay updated on ever-changing tax laws, and help you get the most out of your deductions while reducing what you owe.

Our Culture

We believe in working together, taking ownership, and always growing. Our team supports each other across departments and locations, and we invest in our people through learning opportunities and internal career growth. If you value collaboration and personal development, you'll feel right at home here.

About the Role

We're hiring a Product Manager to own what we build and why. You'll take responsibility for a core area of the TaxMD™ product end-to-end: defining the problem, validating it with real users and data, writing the specs, and staying accountable for whether what shipped actually moved the number you said it would.

This is a hands-on product seat, not a coordination seat. You'll run discovery yourself, sit with CPAs and tax domain experts to get the strategy logic right, and make the call when the roadmap has more good ideas than capacity. You'll partner closely with the Engineering Manager, who owns delivery execution, so the two of you can move fast without dropping accuracy.

If you like turning messy inputs, tax law changes, support tickets, user confusion, and competitor moves, into a clear and defensible roadmap, this is that seat.

What You'll Do

Discovery & Strategy

  • Own the product strategy and roadmap for your area, and be able to defend the sequencing on the merits.
  • Talk to users regularly: individuals, real estate investors, business owners, and the CPAs behind our strategy library. Convert what you hear into prioritized problems, not a list of feature requests.
  • Analyze usage, funnel, drop-off, and support data to find where users stall, disengage, or misunderstand a recommendation.
  • Track the competitive and regulatory landscape and translate it into concrete product implications.

Definition & Delivery

  • Write clear PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria with explicit scope, edge cases, and non-goals.
  • Break large initiatives into shippable increments that survive a tax-season calendar.
  • Partner with design on flows, prototypes, and usability testing; partner with engineering on feasibility and technical trade-offs.
  • Work alongside the Engineering Manager on backlog refinement, sprint scope, and release readiness, keeping a clean split between product direction and delivery execution.
  • Make the prioritization call when the team is stuck or misaligned, and communicate the reasoning.

AI & Strategy Quality

  • Own the product side of our AI-driven recommendations: how strategies get matched to a user's situation, how results get explained, and how we handle low-confidence cases.
  • Define what "good output" means, and work with QA and tax experts to build evaluation criteria for accuracy, relevance, and clarity.
  • Design the human review and escalation paths that keep CPA-approved quality intact as we automate more of the analysis.

Launch & Measurement

  • Define success metrics before build starts, and report against them honestly after launch.
  • Own release notes, internal enablement, and hand-off to support, sales, and marketing.
  • Run post-launch reviews and feed the findings straight back into the roadmap.

Compliance & Risk

  • Get up to speed quickly on the regulatory landscape: U.S. federal and state tax rules, filing deadlines, and data privacy obligations.
  • Treat accuracy, auditability, security, and accessibility as first-class product requirements, written into the spec rather than caught later.
  • Make sure recommendations are positioned and disclaimed correctly given the stakes of tax advice.

What We're Looking For

Must-haves

  • 3+ years in product management on a SaaS or web product, including at least one product or major feature area you owned end-to-end.
  • Proven ability to personally run discovery and definition, user interviews, problem framing, PRDs, acceptance criteria, not just manage a backlog.
  • Comfort with data: you can pull or request the right numbers, read a funnel, and size an opportunity without hand-waving.
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English, since much of this job is writing clearly for people who weren't in the room.
  • Experience working directly with engineering and design in an agile environment.
  • Sound judgment on trade-offs: you can state clearly what you are not doing and why.

Preferred (Nice to have)

  • Fintech, accounting, insurance, or another highly regulated, calculation-heavy domain.
  • Familiarity with U.S. tax concepts (deductions, filing forms, federal vs. state rules), or the ability to ramp up fast.
  • Experience shipping AI or LLM-powered features, with a realistic sense of where they help and where they don't.
  • Startup or early-stage product experience, comfortable with ambiguity and wearing multiple hats.
  • Working knowledge of product and analytics tooling (Jira, Figma, Mixpanel/Amplitude, SQL).
  • Exposure to seasonal or deadline-driven products where a slipped date has hard consequences.

Benefits

Work & Schedule

  • Flexible working hours
  • Daily chef-prepared meals, plus snacks and coffee

Financial Security (Full-Time)

  • Provident Fund
  • Accidental insurance up to Rs. 1,500,000
  • In-hospitalization coverage up to Rs. 200,000, with a family floater option (parents or spouse plus two children)
  • Festival and work-anniversary bonuses
  • Referral bonus for introducing talented candidates

Growth

  • Paid training and certifications relevant to your role
  • Company-sponsored higher education (Finance, Accounting, or MBA) under a five-year commitment
