Key Responsibilities:

  • Internal Compliance Audits
  • Conduct scheduled and ad hoc compliance audits on broker loan files.
  • Select audit samples in accordance with the Internal Audit Program.
  • Review broker files against:
    • NCCP obligations
    • Best Interests Duty (BID)
    • Responsible Lending requirements
    • Internal policies and procedures
    • Aggregator requirements
  • Assess completeness and quality of documentation.
  • Ensure all mandatory documents have been obtained and correctly executed.
  • Verify document timelines and consistency.
  • Documentation Review
Review And Assess Documents Including:

  • Fact Find
  • NCCP Assessment
  • Product Comparison
  • Credit Guide
  • Privacy Consent
  • Living Expense Assessment
  • Income Verification
  • Bank Statements
  • Serviceability Calculations
  • Loan & broker file Notes
  • Email Correspondence
  • Supporting Documentation

Identify:

  • Missing documents
  • Incorrect documentation
  • Inconsistent information
  • Red flag transactions
  • Insufficient verification
  • Poor file notes
  • Inadequate BID justification
  • Audit Reporting
  • Prepare detailed audit reports.
  • Record audit findings and supporting evidence.
  • Assign risk ratings.
  • Recommend corrective actions.
  • Present findings to Management.
  • Track recurring compliance issues.
  • Remediation Management
  • Issue remediation actions to brokers.
  • Monitor completion of corrective actions.
  • Conduct follow-up reviews.
  • Verify remediation effectiveness.
  • Escalate overdue remediation items.
  • Compliance Monitoring

Monitor Compliance Trends Including:

  • Documentation quality
  • Responsible Lending obligations
  • BID compliance
  • AML/CTF documentation
  • Record keeping
  • Broker conduct
  • Regulatory changes
  • Identify systemic risks and recommend improvements.
  • Process Improvement

Work Closely With Compliance Management To:

  • Improve audit methodology.
  • Enhance compliance procedures.
  • Recommend workflow improvements.
  • Improve document templates.
  • Reduce operational risks.
  • Training Support

Assist With:

  • NCCP compliance training
  • Audit feedback sessions
  • Broker coaching
  • Compliance workshops
  • Internal compliance communications
  • Provide education based on common audit findings.
  • Regulatory Support

Assist With:

  • ASIC compliance reviews
  • Aggregator audits
  • External compliance reviews
  • Regulatory information requests
  • Internal policy updates

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of NCCP, Best Interests Duty (BID), and Responsible Lending requirements.
  • Experience in mortgage broker compliance, loan file auditing, or credit assessment.
  • Ability to review and verify Fact Finds, income documents, bank statements, serviceability calculations, and supporting documentation.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify compliance breaches, inconsistencies, and risks.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment skills.
  • Experience preparing audit reports, documenting findings, and tracking remediation actions.
  • Good understanding of ASIC regulations, AML/CTF obligations, and aggregator requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and document management systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with brokers and stakeholders.
  • Previous experience in the Australian mortgage or financial services industry is highly regarded.
