Location: Birtamod, Jhapa, Nepal
Shift: Standard shift (09:00 AM – 05:00 PM), Sunday to Friday; working hours may vary based on plant requirements.
Position Overview
The Assistant Production Manager (APM) supports the Operations Manager in managing day-to-day dairy plant operations to ensure efficient, high-quality production. The role focuses on ensuring efficient, safe, and quality-driven production while complying with food safety, hygiene, and regulatory standards. The APM plays a key role in coordinating resources, supervising teams, improving processes, and preparing operational reports.
Roles And Responsibilities
Production Operations
- Assist in planning and executing daily production schedules for milk processing and dog chew manufacturing to meet demand and quality requirements.
- Support the Operations Manager in supervising dairy processing activities, including cheese curd preparation, chew processing, and dispatch.
- Monitor plant machinery and equipment performance and coordinate maintenance activities across the facility.
- Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and plant-specific process controls.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving productivity, efficiency, and waste reduction.
- Maintain accurate records of production output, material usage, and equipment downtime.
- Inspect in-process and finished products to ensure they meet defined quality and safety standards.
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and other cross-functional departments to ensure smooth and efficient workflows.
- Assist in training, coaching, and supervising production personnel to enhance performance and compliance.
- Promote teamwork and maintain a safe, hygienic, and organized production environment.
- Ensure hygiene, sanitation, and cleanliness standards are strictly followed in all processing and production areas.
- Support the implementation, monitoring, and documentation of quality and food safety systems applicable to dairy-based dog chew production.
- Identify and report safety hazards and assist in corrective and preventive actions in coordination with the Operations Manager.
- Participate in internal audits, inspections, and regulatory preparedness activities.
- Compile daily production reports and submit them to the Operations Manager.
- Identify bottlenecks and assist in resolving issues quickly to avoid production or quality delays.
- Support communication between cross-functional departments for operational alignment.
- Carry out any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Operation Manager or management.
Task Related and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in management, food technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in dairy or food manufacturing
- Sound knowledge of dairy production processes and machinery.
- Familiarity with food safety standards, quality control, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lead teams and coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel and report generation tools.
- Willingness to take initiative and adapt to changing production needs.
