Job Description
The Assistant Chief Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, safety, and efficiency of all engineering systems within the hotel. The role ensures uninterrupted operation of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, fire safety, water treatment, and other critical infrastructure while maintaining regulatory compliance, preventive maintenance, and guest comfort.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the operation and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, DG sets, transformers, STP/WTP, lifts, fire protection systems, and hotel engineering equipment.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to ensure maximum equipment reliability.
Monitor utility consumption and implement energy-saving initiatives.
Supervise engineering technicians, contractors, and vendors, ensuring quality work and compliance with safety standards.
Maintain engineering assets, spare parts inventory, maintenance records, and statutory compliance documentation.
Ensure compliance with Nepal Building Code, electrical, fire, environmental, and occupational health & safety regulations.
Coordinate repairs, annual maintenance contracts (AMCs), inspections, and warranty claims.
Lead engineering response during emergencies, including power failures, equipment breakdowns, fire incidents, and water shortages.
Prepare and submit regular engineering, maintenance, and utility reports to management.
Job Specification
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Master's Degree is an advantage.
Nepal Engineering Council (NEC) registration is preferred.
Experience
Minimum 7 years of experience in hotel engineering, hospitality, commercial buildings, or resort projects.
At least 2 years in a leadership role such as Assistant Chief Engineer or equivalent.
Experience managing engineering operations at remote sites is an advantage.
Required Competencies
Strong technical troubleshooting and maintenance skills.
Knowledge of MEP systems, HVAC, electrical distribution, fire safety, and utility management.
Experience with preventive maintenance planning and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Excellent leadership, vendor management, problem-solving, and emergency response skills.
Candidates currently based in Nepal are encouraged to apply and will be given preference.
