Job Description
- Implement the project activities smoothly as per the activity plan, maintaining the quality and timely outputs.
- Ensure that the benefits reach to the target beneficiaries timely and meet the results and objectives of the project.
- Major responsible activities for the Project Officer include vulnerability assessment, risk assessment of the communities, identification of gaps, planning and implementation of identified interventions for the resilience of the communities.
- Design the activities, estimate the cost and implement through mobilisation of partners and communities, and coordination with stakeholders in the project districts
- Conduct training, awareness camps and workshops for all types of beneficiaries on assigned project activities.
- Monitor, supervise and report periodically of the progress of the project activities
- Develop education, awareness and extension materials such as lessons learned papers, case studies etc. for sharing the experiences and information on the project for partners, visitors, stakeholders, beneficiaries and policy makers.
- Ensure quality of the materials and services purchased for the project.
- Coordinate and communicate with partners, stakeholders, communities in the districts for smooth execution of the project activities.
- Mobilise staff (including that of partners in coordination with), communities, non-government partners/ stakeholders, project consultants and local resources in fulfilling the project objectives.
- Assist developing and strengthening networks of peers and professional contacts, within and outside the organisation on relevant matters.
- Ensure that institutional and donor requirements are fulfilled while delivering the project activities.
- Represent the project to local and national meetings, workshops and seminars as and when necessary.
- Coordinate with other Programmes within the Practical Action South Asia Office and with other Country Offices when deemed necessary for the assigned project through Project Manager.
- Support the Admin and Account Staff for record keeping and financial reporting when needed and other staff in the project for effective delivery of the project.
- Assist the Project Manager to prepare, implement and report annual, quarterly and monthly plans and reports for the project.
- Any other responsibilities as directed by Project Manager.
Job Specification
- Bachelors (preferably Masters) Degree in Meteorology, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change, Natural Resource Management, Social Science or related subject with three years of work experience in related fields.
- Strong communication and analytical skills and fluent in spoken and written English and Nepali
- Knowledge and skills in basic computer skills and relevant design software
- Good knowledge and experience of participatory approaches in programme/project development and implementation, climate change and DRR interface
- A good team worker and coordination at individual and institutional level
- Willingness and enthusiasm for working under pressure and multiple tasks condition with vulnerable communities living in project areas
