Background

Small businesses are critical drivers of economic growth, providing jobs and contributing to innovation in local economies. However, these businesses often face challenges related to management, strategy, operations, marketing, and financial sustainability. To address these issues, a Business Management Consultant will be engaged to provide support and expertise to help small businesses overcome challenges, streamline operations, and achieve long-term growth and profitability.

Objectives

The primary objective of the consultancy is to provide two small agri-businesses with tailored business management support that will improve their overall business performance, sustainability, and competitiveness. This includes addressing management inefficiencies, improving operational processes, developing growth strategies, and enhancing financial management.

Job Description

Scope of Work

The consultant will support small businesses in the following areas:

  • Business Strategy Development: Assist in formulating short- and long-term strategies that align with the company's goals and market conditions.
  • Operational Efficiency: Evaluate and optimize operational processes to improve productivity and reduce costs.
  • Financial Management: Provide guidance on budgeting, financial planning, cash flow management, and financial reporting to ensure businesses remain financially healthy.
  • Marketing and Sales Strategy: Help businesses develop targeted marketing plans, branding strategies, and customer acquisition techniques.
  • Human Resources: Advise on employee management, organizational structure, recruitment, and performance improvement.
  • Technology and Digital Transformation: Provide recommendations for adopting digital tools and technologies to enhance operations, marketing, and customer engagement.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and assist businesses in developing contingency plans to mitigate these risks.
  • Hand holding support to each business when and where required.

Expected Deliverables

  • Initial business diagnosis and report on key findings.
  • Tailored action plans for each business, covering strategic, operational, financial, and marketing recommendations.
  • Regular progress reports to track improvements and provide feedback.
  • Final report summarizing the impact of the consultancy and key achievements.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a relevant field. A technical degree combined with an MBA is preferred.
  • Overall work experience of 5 years or more with proven experience of at least 2 years in business management consulting, particularly with small businesses.
  • Strong understanding of business operations, financial management, and strategy development.
  • Experience in working with diverse industries.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to provide practical, actionable recommendations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Assignment Period: 1st November 2024 to 31 December 2024

Expected working day for the assignment:30 days (with possibilities of an extension with additional assignment)
