Reports to: Managing Director


Job Summary:

The Credit Controller is responsible for managing the credit extended to customers and minimizing the risk of bad debts within the [Organization Name] group. This role involves assessing customer creditworthiness, enforcing credit policies, and implementing effective collection strategies across multiple business units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Group-Wide Credit Risk Assessment:
  • Evaluate the financial stability and creditworthiness of potential and existing customers across the group.
  • Set appropriate credit limits for each customer based on their risk profile and the specific business unit.
  • Monitor customer accounts for signs of financial distress or payment difficulties.
  • Credit Policy Enforcement:
  • Ensure consistent application of credit policies and procedures across all business units within the group.
  • Follow up on overdue payments and implement effective collection strategies.
  • Handle customer disputes and resolve payment issues promptly.
  • Credit Risk Management:
  • Analyze the age of outstanding receivables across the group to identify potential problem areas.
  • Recommend appropriate provisions for doubtful debts based on the assessment of credit risk.
  • Explore the use of credit insurance to mitigate the risk of non-payment.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
  • Provide consolidated reports on credit metrics, such as average collection period, bad debt ratio, and customer aging analysis for the entire group.
  • Analyze credit data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement across different business units.
  • Coordination with Business Units:
  • Collaborate with credit managers or representatives from each business unit to ensure consistent application of credit policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to business units on credit risk management and collection strategies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in credit control or a similar role within a group or corporate environment.
  • Strong understanding of credit risk management principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g., ERP systems, spreadsheets).

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in the Manufacturing and treading sector.
  • Knowledge of credit scoring models and risk assessment tools.
  • Experience with debt collection agencies and legal proceedings.
