Position: Facade Design Manager (Mumbai-based, Relocation Provided)

The Role

• Lead Design Teams: Guide and manage design teams in delivering external aluminum faade packages.
• Architectural Interpretation: Interpret architectural requirements for the design, fabrication, and installation of aluminum building facades, roof lights, and fenestration.
• Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with manufacturer recommendations, company procedures, client requirements, and current legislation.
• Budget Monitoring: Monitor project budgets and ensure adherence to design and QA procedures.
• Team Direction: Provide direction and support to internal and external design teams, monitor design progress, and report potential issues.
• Department Liaison: Liaise regularly with Purchasing, Estimating, Commercial, and Operations departments.
• Project Handover: Attend handover meetings to discuss projects, identify design areas needing attention, and clarify the scope of works.
• Documentation Discrepancies: Proactively address discrepancies in project documentation/specification and arrange necessary meetings.
• Drawing Production: Oversee the production of working drawings/designs, ensuring they align with customer specifications and amendments.
• Cost Management: Ensure drawings meet cost budgets and clearly define methods of construction, setting out, and materials used.
• Calculation Production: Produce calculations to meet manufacturer delivery dates and work within the company CDM procedure.
• Client Liaison: Liaise with client representatives to agree on variations between customer specifications/drawings and tender documents.
• Schedule Production: Lead the timely production of aluminum flashing schedules, procurement schedules, and cutting lists.
• Review Paperwork: Review procurement, flashing schedules, and all manufacturing paperwork for the design team.
• Drawing Issuance: Supervise and monitor the issuance of drawings and design information, ensuring adherence to relevant processes and procedures.
• Record Keeping: Keep daily records of contracts for weekly timesheets.
• Manual Production: Lead the production of operation and maintenance manuals.
• Team Support: Provide support to the Design Manager and team members.
  
  

Ideal Profile

• Experience: 15+ years of experience in aluminum facade design and team leadership.
• Architectural Knowledge: Strong understanding of architectural requirements for aluminum facades, roof lights, and fenestration.
• Leadership Skills: Proven experience in leading design teams and managing project design stages.
• Liaison Skills: Ability to liaise with various departments and manage client relationships effectively.
• Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English is required to effectively liaise with stakeholders in the UK region.
• Relocation: Willingness to relocate to Mumbai, with relocation assistance provided.
• Time Zone Alignment: Availability to work aligned with the UK time zone.
• Work Week Commitment: Commitment to a 5-day work week, Monday to Friday.

• CV and Portfolio: Submit a CV and portfolio showcasing relevant experience and projects.
• Portfolio Requirements: Must contain actual drawings showing a typical plan , elevation , sections that would be typically sent to the client, some detailed sections at a good scale (1:2 or 1:5) showing items notated to show an understanding of products and specifications. We would like to see some fabrication drawings showing the manufacture detailing, including full specification of the item being shown.
