About The Role

This position starts as a one-year contract with the possibility of transitioning to a full-time, permanent role based on performance.

The Managing Director of Alaya in Nepal will lead and align operations with Alaya's vision, values, and objectives. This role is critical in ensuring the integration of global business practices into Nepalese operations, fostering leadership development, ensuring accountability, and driving performance. The MD will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans, enhancing stakeholder engagement, and overseeing the financial health of the organisation.

Major Deliverables

  • Cultural Leadership: Build a workplace environment that embodies Alaya’s values of care, passion, and oneness, integrating these values into daily operations.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the executive team to develop and execute strategic plans that align with Alaya’s vision and drive sustainable growth.
  • Leadership Development: Foster leadership within the organisation, implementing training programs that integrate modern business practices and enhance cultural understanding.
  • Performance Accountability: Ensure leaders in Nepal are held accountable for outcomes, establishing processes to track and enhance individual and team performance. Help to drive a high-performance culture in the business.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and the local community, to enhance Alaya’s brand and reputation.
  • Financial Oversight: Work with the Finance department to ensure financial sustainability, managing budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting to align with organisational goals.
  • Cultural Integration: Promote empathy and adaptability within the team, bridging cultural differences and ensuring effective cross-cultural communication.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement across all areas of the business, driving initiatives that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Goal Alignment: Work with leaders to establish clear goals and performance metrics that align with the company’s strategy and objectives.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring they align with strategic goals and support the achievement of key performance indicators.

Qualification And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field. (Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.)
  • Minimum of 10 years in a leadership role, with substantial exposure to modern business practices and leadership models.
  • Expats who’ve returned to Nepal are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Experience in outsourcing or service-oriented businesses is desirable.
  • Success in managing cultural diversity and integrating diverse work practices.
