About The Role:

This position starts as a one-year contract with possibility of transitioning to a full-time, permanent role based on the performance.

The CTO will play a critical role in leading the technology strategy and ensuring the successful delivery of technology solutions. This role requires an individual with extensive experience in international businesses, bringing modern leadership practices to Alaya's growing team in Nepal. The CTO will drive innovation, lead business improvement initiatives, and foster a culture of continuous improvement to stay ahead of competitors and anticipate future needs. This hands-on leader will mentor the technology team, collaborate with executive leadership, and implement strategies that align with business goals.


Core Tech Stack:

The CTO will work within a streamlined tech stack that includes the following key technologies:

  • Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS, Terraform, CloudFormation
  • Development Tools: GitHub, AWS CodePipeline, Jira, AWS Lambda
  • Languages & Frameworks: JavaScript, Python, React, Node.js
  • Web Development: WordPress, AWS EC2, MongoDB Atlas, AWS S3
  • Along with other platforms across Data, Security, Monitoring, APIs and Collaboration.
  • End user applications designed by the Tech team


Major Deliverables:

  • Technology Vision and Strategy: Establish and drive Alaya’s technology vision, aligning it with business objectives and ensuring it supports long-term growth.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the technology team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Project Management: Oversee technology projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet high standards.
  • Cybersecurity and Compliance: Safeguard data and technology assets by implementing robust cybersecurity measures and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Infrastructure Management: Manage all aspects of technology infrastructure, ensuring robust, secure, and scalable operations that support business needs.
  • Technology Innovation: Identify, assess, and implement emerging technologies that provide a competitive advantage and support business innovation.
  • Vendor and Budget Management: Maintain relationships with technology vendors, manage outsourced services, and optimise technology spending for maximum efficiency.
  • Data Strategy: Leverage data to drive informed business decisions, ensuring the integration of data-driven strategies across the organisation.
  • Disaster Recovery: Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans to minimise disruption and ensure operational resilience.
  • Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimise technology systems and platforms, ensuring high availability, scalability, and efficiency.


Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technology or a related field.
  • 10-15 years of experience in technology, with significant leadership experience and exposure to modern business practices.
  • Experience within the Mortgage or Finance industry is desirable
  • Business Process Outsourcing experience is desirable

  • Strong proficiency in technology development, cloud computing, and the tech stacks we use.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across all levels.
  • Strategic thinker with hands-on problem-solving skills and proactive decision-making abilities
