As an Applied AI Engineer at Naamche, you'll be an integral part of our exceptional team of engineers and data scientists who are constantly pushing the boundaries of applying latest AI algorithms to drive business value in our product.

Please note that this is not an AI research position. We expect you to work across backend engineering, data engineering & AI engineering. You will need to able to write and maintain clean and elegant code and will be expected to ship the systems to production.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable backend systems using Python and frameworks like Django and FastAPI.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and designers to design, architect, and deliver features leveraging data-driven insights.
• Model and store data efficiently in SQL, NoSQL databases, and data warehouses.
• Create and maintain data processing pipelines, including web scraping scripts and scheduled updates.
• Implement data transformations using dbt, ensuring seamless integration with warehouses and live databases.
• Orchestrate data workflows with Airflow to automate and schedule data processing tasks.
• Manage application deployment to cloud providers like AWS through containerization.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to maintain high-quality, efficient, and scalable code.
• Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders, including presenting demos and data-driven reports.

AI-Specific Responsibilities

• Work with large language models (LLMs) from OpenAI, Anthropic, etc., to develop innovative AI solutions.
• Design and implement APIs for seamless integration of AI models into the product ecosystem.
• Perform exploratory data analysis on structured and unstructured datasets and prepare reports for stakeholders.
• Evaluate AI model performance using appropriate evaluation frameworks.

Job Requirements

Skill Set

• You have an in-depth knowledge of Python and hands-on experience working on medium to large-scale projects.
• You possess a strong understanding of fundamentals in AI/ML and are familiar with various algorithms and techniques (supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement learning, etc.)
• You have practical experience working with data manipulation, cleansing, and preprocessing techniques. You eat numpy and pandas for breakfast and make beautiful plots in matplotlib.
• You have built professional or personal projects using OpenAI’s (or any other similar ) LLMs
• You are proficient in backend API design principles and follow best practices to create robust and efficient interfaces
• You have previously deployed a backend system to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) using deployment tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• You have familiarity with data warehouses such as Redshift, Snowflake, and similar platforms
• You possess excellent communication skills in English and are confident in presenting your work to stakeholders
• You have a passion for developing products, not just writing software, i.e. you think beyond the JIRA tickets assigned to you and try to understand the business objective behind the software.
• You don’t shy away from providing feedback to your colleagues and you don’t get offended when you receive constructive criticism.
• You take your own initiatives and don’t wait for your supervisor to tell you what to do

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in backend or machine learning engineering roles.
