Job Description
Curriculum Management:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate academic curricula in collaboration with faculty members and department heads.
- Ensure that the curriculum aligns with institutional goals, standards, and educational policies.
- Monitor the effectiveness of course materials, teaching methods, and learning outcomes.
Student Support and Guidance:
- Provide guidance to students regarding academic requirements, course selections, and educational goals.
- Work with students who are struggling academically to provide support or refer them to relevant resources (tutors, counselors, etc.).
- Monitor student progress and academic performance, offering advice and interventions where necessary.
Instructor Support and Development:
- Coordinate with faculty members to ensure they have the resources and support they need to teach effectively.
- Organize professional development opportunities for teachers to improve their skills and knowledge.
- Assist instructors with lesson planning, course delivery, and grading strategies.
Assessment and Evaluation:
- Oversee the development and implementation of assessment tools, exams, and grading policies.
- Analyze student performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement in both individual courses and the overall program.
- Conduct regular evaluations of courses, teaching methods, and student satisfaction.
Scheduling and Logistics:
- Coordinate course schedules, ensuring there is adequate coverage of subjects and classes.
- Handle any academic-related administrative tasks, such as assigning classrooms, managing course enrollment, and ensuring compliance with academic policies.
- Work with other departments to manage the academic calendar and ensure that all academic activities are on track.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Serve as a liaison between faculty, students, and administration, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration.
- Organize meetings, workshops, or conferences to discuss academic initiatives, challenges, and successes.
- Represent the academic department in meetings with other institutional stakeholders.
Academic Policy and Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to institutional policies, accreditation requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Assist in developing and enforcing academic policies, including those regarding grading, attendance, and academic integrity.
- Keep up to date with changes in educational laws, accreditation standards, and academic best practices.
Resource Management:
- Ensure the availability and effective use of academic resources such as textbooks, teaching materials, and digital tools.
- Manage the academic budget and allocate resources effectively.
Job Specification
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Academic Administration, or a related field is typically required.
- Teaching experience is often a prerequisite, as it provides a practical understanding of academic delivery.
