The ideal candidate should have knowledge of Indian, Chinese, and Continental cuisine, along with a strong understanding of vegetable cutting techniques and food preparation rules. Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation: Assist in preparing ingredients for cooking, including washing, chopping, and cutting vegetables according to established rules and standards.
- Cooking: Support the head chef in cooking Indian, Chinese, and Continental dishes, ensuring that food is prepared to the highest quality.
- Kitchen Organization: Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace, including proper storage of ingredients and utensils.
- Quality Control: Ensure all food prepared meets the cafe's quality standards and follows hygiene and safety regulations.
- Assisting the Chef: Help the chef with various tasks during busy service periods, including plating and serving dishes.
- Inventory Management: Assist in managing kitchen inventory, including monitoring stock levels and informing the chef when supplies need to be ordered.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service and smooth kitchen operations.
- Learning and Development: Show a willingness to learn new cooking techniques and recipes, participating in training sessions as required.
- Hygiene Compliance: Follow food safety and hygiene regulations to maintain a safe kitchen environment.
Job Specification
Requirements:
•Previous experience as a cook or kitchen helper in a restaurant or cafe is preferred.
