Opportunity Village Nepal (OVN) advocates for the rights of women and children and for their economic and social justice. The focus of its programs continues to be on the abolition of child labor, prevention of human trafficking, promotion of girl child education, and empowerment of women through various innovative strategies working closely with the communities they live in. Under its Anti-Human Trafficking Project, OVN invites applications for the following position:

1.   Position: Cooperative Officer- Kathmandu Based - 1

Key Responsibilities

  • Formation and Registration of Cooperative as per Co-operatives Rule- 2075
  • Creating and approving the daily operations of the business.
  • Creating and implementing a business plan.
  • Manage the administration, and staff and create a profitable business.
  • Accounting bookkeeping, managing & update stock books for the everyday usage of the resources on an everyday basis.
  • Manage finances including audit reports, bookkeeping, transaction tracking, and budget and expense management.
  • Conducting meetings and communicating about the ongoing situations of the business with the OVN management
  • Providing monthly finance and activity reports to OVN Director 
  • Liaison with the government and non-government partners.

Education and Experience

  • At least Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and other disciplines.
  • Three years of work experience in the formation and strengthening of Cooperatives and a thorough understanding of the core principles of Cooperatives. 
  • Proficient in using FAMAS, Microsoft Office package, email, internet, Google calendar, and others.
  • Two-wheeler driving skill with a valid driving license is compulsory. 
  • Sound knowledge of cooperative accounting management. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and writing skills in English and Nepali
  • Experience providing written reports and documentation of project activities.
